چکیده

Abstract This study addresses the effectiveness of buckling restrained braces (BRBs) and viscous dampers (VDs) in dissipating seismic energy increasing performance irregular composite buildings during earthquake events. The response steel-concrete moment resisting frames 15 stories with concrete filled steel tubes (CFST) as columns beams was examined without protection devices by employing ETABS software using spectrum method per IS 1893:2016 for zone V. Regular plans characterised structures. plan include C L-shaped buildings. BRBs VDs were installed on all two configurations: corner bays centre throughout height. results showed excellent dissipation capabilities. contributions 5%-8% more than and, therefore, efficient. Centre placement most efficient regular reducing time-period 60%, maximum story displacement 57%, base shear 37%, interstory drift ratio 70%. Corner 55%-60%, 63%-65%, 30% 13%, 78%-80%, respectively, making an choice midrise

Seismic Vibration Control of 3D Steel Frames with Irregular Plans Using Eccentrically Placed MR Dampers

Abstract: There has been a significant increase in attention toward designing smart structures and vibration control of structures in recent decades, and numerous methods and algorithms have been developed and experimentally investigated. However, the majority of these studies used the shear frame models to represent structures. Since the simplified models do not reflect the realistic behavior ...

Evaluating the Performance of the Buckling Restrained Braces in Tall Buildings with peripherally braced frames

In recent years, seismic design of structures has been undergoing significant changes due to increasing demand for optimization and minimizing the level of damage and reducing the cost of structural repairs. Development of analytical methods and remarkable improvements of computer performance have been among the factors which influenced the design of structures. A lot of research has been condu...

Comparison of Seismic Behavior of Buckling-restrained Braces and Yielding Brace System in Irregular and Regular Steel Frames under Mainshock and Mainshock-Aftershock

Due to low stiffness of braces after yielding, the structures with buckling-restrained braces (BRBs) experience high residual drifts during an earthquake, which can be intensified by aftershocks and causes considerable damages to structures. Also, due to poor distribution of stiffness, this problem is exacerbated for irregular structures. Recently, the yielding brace system (YBS) has been intro...

buckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method

Thermal Behavior of Cylindrical Buckling Restrained Braces at Elevated Temperatures

The primary focus of this investigation was to analyze sequentially coupled nonlinear thermal stress, using a three-dimensional model. It was meant to shed light on the behavior of Buckling Restraint Brace (BRB) elements with circular cross section, at elevated temperature. Such bracing systems were comprised of a cylindrical steel core encased in a strong concrete-filled steel hollow casing. A...
